📖Book Club

March 18th @ 6pm

April 15th @ 6pm

Looking for something to do while we wait for spring to arrive? How about joining us for the Wednesday Book and Wine Club? This is the place for you if enjoy books, great food and beverage, and lots of fun. On March 18, we will discuss “The Last One at the Wedding” by Jason Rekulak, which is an edge-of-your-seat thriller that delves deep into the heart of complicated family dynamics.

Frank Szatowski is shocked when his estranged daughter, Maggie, calls him for the first time in three years. He’s even more surprised when she invites him to her upcoming wedding. Frank is ecstatic and determined to finally make things right.

He arrives to find that the wedding is at a private estate—very much out of his league. It seems that Maggie failed to mention that she’s marrying Aidan Gardner, the son of a famous tech billionaire. Feeling desperately out of place, Frank focuses on reconnecting with Maggie and getting to know her new family. But there are big challenges: Aidan is withdrawn and evasive; Maggie doesn’t seem to have time for her father; and he finds that the locals are disturbingly hostile to the Gardners. Frank needs to know more about this family his daughter is marrying into, but if he pushes too hard, he could lose Maggie forever.

We hope to see you on March 18!

📚Lit Happens

March 10th @ 6pm

Lit Happens is a group that meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm to discuss non-fiction and literary fiction books selected by a member of the group (NOTE: new time started in February). Most members order dinner before we begin our discussion.

Our February book was the Booker Prize winner “Remains of the Day”, by Kazou Ishigoru. Bonnie led the discussion.

We will be discussing the nonfiction book “Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don’t Know”, by Adam Grant on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:00 pm

Think Again is a book about the benefit of doubt, and about how we can get better at embracing the unknown and the joy of being wrong. Evidence has shown that creative geniuses are not attached to one identity, but constantly willing to rethink their stances and that leaders who admit they don't know something and seek critical feedback lead more productive and innovative teams.
