"July is hollyhocks and hammocks, fireworks and vacations, hot and steamy weather, cool and refreshing swims, beach picnics, and vegetables all out of the garden.” — Jean Hersey

I knew that once the rain stopped, we were going to get the summer weather and boy did it come.  Due to all the rainy weather in May and first part of June some capital projects were delayed. Now that the rain has held off, the pavilion and pergola have been stained as well as the installation of the new pool speakers.

The golf course is coming around with the warmer weather helping the zoysia push through and the new sod come in from the winter kill. Winter kill is something that is not planned and can be unknown. Most courses in town experienced this and Chad and his crew were on top of ordering the replacement sod and got all the work done. The course is ready for the summer!

The new maintenance building and halfway house are moving along. The halfway house was scheduled to open at the end of June but due to all the weather delays we are hoping for mid-July.  We will open but still looking into the food & beverage offerings that will make sense for our membership. I am looking at a couple of other clubs who have the vending machines I would like to place in the new halfway house. I am hopeful to have a decision by the end of July. The maintenance building has also been delayed on the timeline but still an October opening for Chad.

The pool has been busy since the rain stopped. We are full service at the pool Tuesday through Sunday with service on the lower level as well. We added a few more tables to the lower level for food service.  July will bring some hot days so the pool will be a great place to cool off.

I would like to congratulate all the winners of the June tournaments. We had lots of events going on including the Derby, Senior Club Championship, Men’s Member Guest, and Ladies Member Guest. Thank you to all who played and congratulations to all the winners!

This month, the 4th of July holiday falls on a Friday. Please read the newsletter and hours of operation. We will be offering specials over the holiday weekend and will have a family friendly buffet at the pool on the 4th. Holidays are very popular at the pool so be sure to arrive early to obtain your lounge chair or table.

I also would like to acknowledge all the hard work the staff does.  The managers have hired good employees in their departments, and I have to say the club is running very efficiently. Long hours are dedicated to the Club and the staff feel like Bogey is also their home and I take a lot of pride in that. The Club is successful because of the great leadership managers take on and the time they spend with their staff. So, kudos to the staff for making Bogey Hills a place we all like to come to.

Thank you for being a part of Bogey Hills and I hope to see you at the Club.
